From Support to Success: Joeline Moodley’s Career Journey

This month, we were proud to see Joeline Moodley, former Executive Support Assistant to our Group Chief Financial Officer, Sean Capazorio, be promoted to the role of Accountant. In her new role, Joeline will form part of the Holdings Finance team.

Her promotion marks a well-deserved next step in a journey shaped by dedication, perseverance, and a genuine passion for accounting.

 

Joeline’s story is a wonderful example of Aspen’s commitment to developing talent and creating opportunities for our people to thrive. Through Aspen’s internal bursary programme, she successfully completed a Bachelor of Commerce degree in Accountancy at the University of Johannesburg – a significant achievement that speaks not only to her determination, but also to the value of investing in employee growth and development.

 

Since joining Aspen in July 2009, Joeline has consistently demonstrated a strong work ethic, commitment to excellence, and alignment with Aspen’s values. Over the years, she has built a reputation for reliability and dedication, and her promotion is a proud reflection of what can be achieved when ambition is matched with support and opportunity.

We caught up with Joeline to hear more about her journey, what this milestone means to her, and the advice she would share with others looking to develop their careers at Aspen.

 

Q: How has Aspen’s internal bursary programme and support for your development helped shape your career journey?

A: Aspen’s internal bursary program has been instrumental in shaping my career by giving me the chance to further my studies while continuing to develop within the business. I am especially grateful to Sean Capazorio, our Group CFO, for the early exposure and encouragement that helped start my finance journey and to Verona Pillay, our Group Head of Finance for mentoring me throughout the course of my studies.

 

Completing my qualification with this support marked a significant milestone, strengthening both my confidence and commitment to a career in finance. The encouragement from Aspen, combined with the opportunity to apply my learning in a practical environment, helped me stay focused on my goals and prepared me well for the next stage of my journey.

 

Q: What does this promotion mean to you personally and professionally?

A: Personally, it holds special significance as it reflects a path my late father encouraged, and I know he would be proud. It represents years of dedication, perseverance, and the support of those who have guided and believed in me.

Professionally, this opportunity allows me to continue growing and contributing to a field I am passionate about. I am excited to step into the role of Accountant within the Holdings Finance team and sincerely appreciate the trust placed in me as I begin this new chapter.

 

Q: What advice would you give to other Aspen employees who are pursuing their own growth and development goals?

A: My advice would be to stay committed to your goals, remain open to learning, and make use of the opportunities available to you. Growth takes time, discipline, and patience, but with the right mindset and support, it is possible to achieve what you set out to do. I would also encourage employees to believe in themselves, ask questions, seek guidance from those around them, and keep working consistently towards their aspirations. Aspen provides opportunities for development, and it is important to take ownership of your journey and make the most of them.
