Against this formidable backdrop, Aspen Athletics Club delivered a performance worthy of celebration. Five athletes proudly represented the club, each demonstrating the perseverance and commitment for which the Comrades is renowned.
Four of the runners earned bronze medals by finishing in under 11 hours — a remarkable achievement given the grueling nature of the course. Even more inspiring was the fact that three of these medal winners were women, all successfully completing their back-to-back runs. In a race where women have historically made up only around a quarter of the field, this accomplishment stands out as a powerful reflection of strength, consistency and determination.
Their success represents more than personal achievement. It also speaks to the supportive culture within Aspen Athletics Club, where dedication, discipline and team spirit continue to drive outstanding performances. The runners’ achievements show what is possible when thorough preparation is matched by resilience and determination.
This year’s Comrades was about more than crossing a finish line. For Aspen Athletics Club, it was a proud demonstration of unity, perseverance and the pursuit of excellence in the face of one of the toughest challenges in distance running.
Speaking on her participation in the race, Jo Forson, Group Risk Manager, said, “It was never about perfect conditions, but about showing up regardless. The support I received and my commitment to keep going made all the difference. Through consistency, the right mindset and the people behind me, I achieved a bronze medal and my back-to-back finish, with a 20-minute improvement despite the more demanding up run.”
Congratulations to our incredible team! You have made Aspen Athletics Club proud and inspired us all with your outstanding achievement.
