An Ethicare initiative
The unprecedented arrival of COVID-19 in South Africa forced everyone to come to terms with a new normal. The grave reality of the pandemic was highlighted with the announcement of a national lockdown on 23 March 2020. This drastic measure was implemented to flatten the curve and slow the spread of the coronavirus.
During this period, pharmacy professionals have continued to serve patients by providing them with medicines and services. This commitment has contributed towards alleviating the burden on healthcare facilities such as hospitals and doctor’s practices.
The Independent Community Pharmacists Association (ICPA) signaled a desperate need for personal protective equipment for pharmacists. Ethicare, a division of Aspen Pharmacare Limited, underscored their credo of ‘Committed to Caring’‘ and responded to this plea by sponsoring 3 000 face shields to ICPA members.
